Demi Moore ♥ Lanvin

It’s the last day of wedding week on Love Lanvin and I thought it would be the perfect time to compile Demi Moore’s ♥ Lanvin post. The beautiful actress fittingly wore a custom-designed gown on her wedding day to Ashton Kutcher in 2005 and has been loyal to the brand ever since. Moore, who employs stylist Rachel Zoe, is also a close friend of Alber Elbaz and last year during a press tour in Paris, she tweeted these fun pictures of her surrounded by beautiful Lanvin shoes and posing with Elbaz - in Lanvin shades, no doubt!

This year has already seen Moore rock some stunning Lanvin pieces from Spring 2010, plus a welcome revisit to a divine Fall 2009 dress. Out of all the ♥ Lanvin posts I have compiled so far, Moore’s has definitely been the most glamorous.

'Killers' Premiere in Los Angeles - Fall 2009

Most recently, Moore chose this insanely gorgeous Fall 2009 dress to wear to the premiere of her husband’s film, ‘Killers,’ in Los Angeles. The original runway version was shown in a slick noir shade, but this teal green hue works well against Moore’s skin tone and hair color.

The Met Ball 2010 - Draped Metallic Dress

Not everyone found Moore’s look appealing here but I like the silhouette of this metallic, one-shouldered gown. It’s such a beautiful shape and I appreciated that it wasn’t in basic black or other standard color. The Met Ball allows for celebrities to be more daring in their choice of dress and I thought this was the perfect balance of edgy and classic. The matching cuffs are exquisite.

18th Annual ‘A Night At Sardi’s’ Fundraiser - Spring 2010

Moore chose this ruffled LBD from Spring 2010 to wear to a fundraiser earlier this year. In my opinion, this is one of those ‘forever dresses,’ a piece that will never go out of style, no matter what the trends or fashions are. The ruffles at the waist may be a little harder to pull off if you’re not sample size, but it’s otherwise a perfectly classic dress.

2009 Freedom Awards - Spring 2010

You may recall that Jennifer Lopez also wore this dress to an event in a darker shade of tobacco brown. Moore opted for the runway version and I think that this color is much better suited to her skin tone. This is one of my favorite looks on Moore because it’s so chic but the ruffles, draping and one-shoulder make the outfit interesting and is a departure from the more structured dresses Moore sometimes favors. Lanvin chain link pumps and a long black clutch complete the rest of her outfit.

W Magazine December 2009 - Spring 2010

For Moore’s much talked about W magazine spread, stylist Alex White chose French brands like Balmain, Givenchy and of course, Lanvin, to show off their cover star’s envious figure. In this shot, Moore is posing in a beautiful beige Spring 2010 dress, similar to the one she wore to the Freedom Awards above, with a stunning Lanvin necklace.

'The House Bunny' Premiere in Los Angeles - Fall 2008

The premiere of her daughter’s movie ‘The House Bunny’ called for a beautiful but understated navy dress from Lanvin’s Fall 2008 collection. This dress was so amazing on the runway with black gloves, ankle boots and dark smoky eyes but it’s not always the best approach for a red carpet. Moore kept her look uncomplicated by accessorizing with a simple pair of earrings and a black clutch.

'What Happens in Vegas' Premiere in Japan - Fall 2008

Out to support one of her husband’s movies in Japan, Moore donned another fabulous dress from the Fall 2008 collection. Alber Elbaz described his approach to that season as starting with a thread and creating dresses, not from fabric, but strips of grosgrain ribbon. This dress is a beautiful example of that genius technique.

“Une Journee A Paris” Van Cleef & Arpels Fashion Event - Tiered White Dress

At a Van Cleef & Arpels event in 2007, Moore accompanied Alber Elbaz in this flirty beaded white dress. Accessorized with wooden jewelry and a mirrored clutch, this was definitely a young, cool look that Moore pulled off to perfection. (Side note: I am obsessed with Alber’s fuschia velvet bow tie in this picture!)

Couture Council Awards for Artistry of Fashion in New York - Black Pleated Dress

At an event honoring Alber Elbaz, Moore gave tribute to the designer by wearing a fun pleated black Lanvin dress with patent strappy shoes and gold statement necklaces. The dress has embellishments along the straps and neckline and I love these little details that make an item more interesting and distinct.

Moore’s Wedding to Ashton Kutcher in 2005 - Custom Made Lanvin Dress

Saving the best for last, Moore’s custom-made wedding dress was designed exclusively for her by Alber Elbaz. The dress is simple and understated; it appears to be a bias-cut gown with some kind of detailing on the back, not visible in this picture. The veil that Moore is wearing is beautiful and I love how it cascades all the way down to the floor. In an article for Harper’s BAZAAR US, Alber speaks a little about this experience:

"Demi Moore called me, because I made her wedding dress, and it was a big secret, her getting married to Ashton Kutcher… She said, "Alber, it’s out, it’s in a magazine.” I was dying to see the dress on her…"

I think the entire Fall 2010 collection would look great on Moore but I’m excited to see her in Lanvin pieces from any season. She brings such a great element of Hollywood glamour to the clothes and I’ll be keeping a close eye on her style in the future.

Derek Cardigan’s Lanvin BFFs

It’s Love Lanvin’s 50th post and to celebrate this little milestone, I thought it would be a treat to blog about the extremely talented artist Derek Cardigan. I stumbled across Derek’s blog last week and squealed with joy when I saw his interpretation of Lanvin’s Spring 2009 collection. Every detail, from the kohl-rimmed cat eyes right down to the jeweled floral embellishments, is included in his sketch and I think it’s such a charming and whimsical tribute. I love how Derek depicted the pointy heels with ankle ties and I must say that my favorite of the BFFs, is the girl on the far right, with her strawberry blond hair and piercing blue eyes.

Here are the runway looks from Style.com that Derek used as inspiration:

Lanvin isn’t the only brand that Derek illustrates and I adore his interpretations of Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Chloé. I have bookmarked his website and plan on checking back frequently, and I hope to see more illustrations inspired by Lanvin in the future. Spring 2008 or Fall 2010, Derek? :)

If you are a fan of fashion illustrations (or fashion in general!), then I highly recommend checking out Derek’s blog - you will not be disappointed.

Rachel Bilson ♥ Lanvin Shoes

I’ve been an admirer of Rachel Bilson’s style ever since her days on ‘The O.C.’. She’s one of those girls who I look to for inspiration since we have similar body types and she always gets her proportions spot on. Her style has evolved beautifully over the years with the help of stylist Nicole Chavez, whom Bilson met on the set of ‘The O.C.' and still works with today. Together, they've nailed casual but interesting daytime style and it's no wonder InStyle gave Bilson a monthly column, where readers could write in and ‘Ask Rachel’ anything fashion-related. Bilson is often spotted in numerous magazines and is a regular on fashion blogs, as girls all over the world are eager to see what she’s wearing.

Last week, she was spotted wearing a cute pair of Lanvin flats and I immediately remembered that she had worn Lanvin shoes multiple times on the red carpet. This was such a fun post to make and I loved the little trip down fashion memory lane…

Out in Hollywood/Downtown Los Angeles - Resort 2010 Shoes

Just Jared spotted Bilson out and about in Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles in a pair of pink pom-pom Lanvin flats from Resort 2010. I thought it was such a great way to infuse some color to both outfits and also recognize the summer season. The flats add a nice touch of femininity to her basic looks and is a lovely way of showing off her personal style.

The pink sandals that Bilson wears are available at My Theresa and are on sale for almost 50% off!

Teen Choice Awards/Whitney Art Party 2008 - Spring 2008 Shoes

Back in 2008, at the Teen Choice Awards and the Whitney Art Party, Bilson wore a pair of nude Spring 2008 shoes with her beautiful icy blue Brian Reyes dress and cream Hervé Léger halter dress, respectively. Do I even need to mention my love for the Spring 2008 show anymore? No? Okay, well let’s just say I was very fond of both looks, particularly what she wore to the Teen Choice Awards. The color and style of the dress is so pretty and looks great on her olive skin tone.

"The Edge of Heaven" Movie Premiere/Cinema Against AIDS Event in Dubai - Metallic Sandals with Wooden Heels

Whilst attending events in Dubai in 2007, Bilson chose to wear two lovely dresses in similar shades of green with a pair of Lanvin metallic sandals. The short green Sretsis dress is so cute and I remember instantly falling in love with her entire outfit - everything from the color to the style is perfect and suits Bilson’s petite frame.

The asymmetrical Randolph Duke dress is so elegant and skims her body perfectly. I’m a big fan of the teal and silver color combination and I think Bilson was too as she chose to repeat it at another event. It’s one of the many reasons why she is such a relatable style icon; she knows what works for her and just like regular people, wears her favorite items over and over again.

At A Gas Station 2007 - Contrasting Toe-Capped Wooden Heels with Bow

I love how Bilson is wearing a fabulous pair of shoes to run every day errands such as getting gas for her car. A great pair of shoes can make even the most mundane activities look (and feel) glamorous and I think Bilson chose to make her heels the focal point of her outfit. These shoes are a hybrid version of some of the styles that were shown in the Resort 2008 collection and this pair from Resort 2009, which are still available to purchase from The Outnet via their US site.

On the set of ‘New York, I Love You’ 2008 - Papillote Shopper

Now I know I called this post “Rachel Bilson ♥ Lanvin Shoes” but it’s not just the shoes that she loves. Bilson was also spotted a few times with this charming Lanvin tote bag whilst on the set of her movie ‘New York, I Love You.’ When the tote was available to purchase, it retailed at $925 and a few eyebrows were raised at this price. When it comes to grocery bags, I know I wouldn’t feel comfortable spending almost $1000 on one but it’s still Lanvin and the sketch is by Alber, so I would have reassured myself that I was buying a piece of art. I still don’t think I would have been comfortable taking it to just any grocery store though… Maybe a fancy food hall, like the one in Selfridges!

Fashion Rocks 2006 - Spring 2006

And again, this post is dedicated to accessories, but  in 2006 Bilson wore this striking one-shouldered midnight-blue Spring 2006 Lanvin dress that I just had to include. It’s quite a distinctive Lanvin shape - with the one-shoulder and belt - and I can see why Alber chooses to do similar silhouettes from season to season. This dress is so timeless and elegant and will never look outdated. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Yves Saint Laurent, “Fashion fades, but style is eternal.” Bilson looks undeniably chic and sophisticated.

While we haven’t seen Bilson in Lanvin clothes for a long time, I’m hoping her pom-pom sandals reignite her interest in the brand. I think she would look amazing in some of the Spring 2010 looks and the incredible coats from Fall 2010. My fingers are crossed for that and maybe an ‘O.C.' reunion someday…

P.S. I’m dedicating this post to Just Jared who I know hearts Rachel as much as I do! :)

Sarah Jessica Parker & Carrie Bradshaw ♥ Lanvin

'Sex and the City's' Carrie Bradshaw will go down in history as one of the most stylish characters to ever be portrayed on television. Played by Sarah Jessica Parker, the fashionable writer had more than a handful of memorable outfits onscreen and quickly became synonymous with fabulous style. Bradshaw was, and still is, an icon to millions of women all over the world and I’m sure that for years to come, new generations of younger girls are going to continually discover the show and idolize her too.

Offscreen, Parker is a style icon in her own right often wearing designers such as Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Chanel and Halston Heritage - a diffusion line for which SJP serves as creative officer and president. With all those fashion credentials under her Dior belt (sorry, I’m in “Carrie mode”!) it’s no surprise that Parker opted to wear Lanvin on the red carpet earlier this year and also sport one of the most iconic pieces from the Spring 2008 collection in this year’s ‘Sex and the City 2’ movie.

ShoWest 2010 - Spring 2010

Whilst on the promotional tour for ‘Sex and the City 2’ earlier this year, SJP chose to wear this incredibly beautiful Spring 2010 dress with blush coloured Charlotte Olympia shoes. I love how SJP adapted this look for the red carpet. On the runway the dress was layered with a puff-sleeved black tee, belted at the waist and paired with sexy red heels. It’s such a great look for the runway but on the red carpet, it may have been harder to pull off. SJP stripped all the accoutrements away and let the dress really shine on its own. She’s literally glowing - her hair looks super shiny and healthy and her make-up is fresh and pretty.

'Sex and The City 2' Movie Still - Spring 2008

Wow. What a beautiful picture! The colour of this dress against Mr. Big’s gorgeous ultramarine blue shirt is breathtaking. The way the fabric drapes along SJP’s body is so romantic. I’ve written about my love for the Spring 2008 collection before - it’s my all-time favorite collection by any designer, ever! - so I am overjoyed that it is still getting love in 2010. Costume designer Patricia Field knows how to hit all the right notes and I haven’t been able to get this image out of my head for the past few weeks. I may not have initially agreed with Carrie’s choice of Big (or should I say John James Preston?) in the season finale of ‘Sex and the City’ but I simply can’t imagine Aidan here in John’s place. This picture of the couple is so iconic and could have been lifted right out of the pages of Vogue

The runway shot of the Spring 2008 dress Carrie wears as modeled by Raquel Zimmerman.

'Sex and the City' Movie Stills - Resort 2008 Wedding Dress

I cannot believe I almost forgot to include these stills in this post! When the first ‘Sex and the City’ movie came out this was my favorite fashion montage and I much preferred it to the closet scene where Carrie is modeling outfits for the girls. The Vivienne Westwood wedding dress that Carrie chooses is incredible, but I do remember thinking at the time how much this Resort 2008 Lanvin dress suited her personality more. It was quirky but feminine, sweet but whimsical and lovely with the added pearls and ribbons. Alber Elbaz used the Resort season to introduce these non-traditional wedding dresses and I can’t help but wonder if the wedding would have gone to plan had she worn this dress, instead of the Vivienne Westwood one… (Sorry, Carrie mode again!)

Also just for fun, here’s a picture of Alber Elbaz and Sarah Jessica Parker together from way back in 2004. Style.com notes that this photograph was snapped at a party for the filming of the last two episodes of ‘Sex and the City’ in Paris. Trés chic!

Dr. Lisa Airan ♥ Lanvin

For as long as I’ve been cruising Style.com’s party photos, I have always wondered who exactly are those incredibly well-dressed women (often coined ‘socialites’) at all the most fabulous events worth attending. One woman in particular who consistently stands out is Dr. Lisa Airan and not just because she is often photographed wearing Lanvin. Her skin is flawless and she has this beautiful glow emanating from her that I couldn’t help but find out more information. So, who is she? Dr. Airan is a brilliant dermatologist (no surprise there!) who has a renowned practice on the Upper East Side of New York City. She has been featured in the pages of US and international editions of ELLE and Vogue, not to mention Harper’s BazaarWWDGlamourAllure and countless others. She also maintains an impressive roster of celebrity clients including a number of high-profile models - arguably the women who need to look after their skin the most. Dr. Airan’s approach to great skin includes a 5 point guide to good living: a healthy diet, regular exercise, spirituality, stress reduction and cosmetic dermatology. If it gets me the type of skin that she has, I’m definitely willing to try all of the above!

Dr. Airan has worn Lanvin to many events and epitomizes to me what a Lanvin woman should look like. She is incredibly fashion forward but like all true style icons, the clothes are never wearing her. Her looks are different and she doesn’t overdo it with hairstyles or make-up. Like Maggie Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman before her, Dr. Airan knows the power of simplicity and understated chic.

The Whitney Art Party - Spring 2010

Most recently, Dr. Airan wore one of the most coveted looks from the Spring 2010 collection to the Whitney Museum’s Annual Contemporaries Party. The tight bodice and the architectural ruffle on the shoulder is stunning and I thought it was a great alternative to the many floaty white dresses that often crop up around summertime. Dr. Airan also wore Spring 2010 Lanvin shoes which are currently available in a similar style at Net-A-Porter.

The Gordon Parks Foundation’s “Celebrating Fashion” Gala - Spring 2009

Sigh… It’s that dress again! I adored this look when it walked down the runway and even more when Maggie Gyllenhaal wore it to the Golden Globes in 2009. Dr. Airan took a cue from Gyllenhaal and belted the dress but chose to wear the shorter version that appeared on the runway. The patent leather belt is a total winner and really makes the dress pop. Dr. Airan’s shoes are unusual and quirky and I appreciate it when someone puts their individual spin on a look - instead of going head-to-toe or opting for something more simple. Definitely one of my favorite looks on her.

Sixth Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards - Spring 2008

Dr. Airan wore this modified Spring 2008 dress to a Vogue party, guaranteeing that she would fit in amongst the sure to be fashionably dressed crowd. Remembering the moments when those incredible voluminous dresses hit the runway is always thrilling but I did wonder how they would stand on the red carpet. Fortunately the dresses translated well and I’m in awe of how great Dr. Airan looks in this black halter-style version. I love how the ruffles bunch up around her feet as it reminds me of an Oscar dress or even a beautiful wedding train.

American Museum of Natural History’s ‘Winter Dance’ - Spring 2008

Another incredibly coveted dress from the Spring 2008 collection; this cobalt blue one-shouldered ruffle dress. From these few photographs it’s safe to assume that Dr. Airan is a fan of the one shouldered look (see the leopard print dress and white ruffle dress) but it’s certainly a style that suits her well. Since the color is so bold, Dr. Airan kept her accessories simple and her hair and make-up fresh and pretty.

Jacquetta Wheeler’s DARNA Fundraiser - Spring 2007

And finally, a gorgeous Spring 2007 dress was worn to two separate events by Dr. Airan. One to this event, a DARNA fundraiser and the other to a Calvin Klein party. I think that this dress is a great example of taking a look from day to night. The dress is certainly appropriate for daytime wear and as Dr. Airan demonstrates, can be jazzed up with heels and a clutch for a nighttime event.

I am sure that Dr. Airan will continue to wear Lanvin in the future as she seems to be such a loyal supporter of the brand. I personally cannot wait to see how she rocks the looks and will definitely be posting them on this site so that we can all admire and appreciate!
